Pilar Joins the Quincentennial Commemoration of the Victory of Lapu-Lapu at Mactan
DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2021-023 enjoins “Participation of all Government Agencies and Instrumentalities in the Celebration of the 2021 Quincentennial Commemoration in the Philippines (2021 QCP). LGU-Pilar officials and employees gather at the Bonifacio Covered Court today, April 27, 2021 to join the nationwide simultaneous flag raising ceremony to show respect and solidarity as Filipinos in celebrating this historical milestone.
In her message, Hon. Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes put a distinctive comparison of the gallantry of Lapu-Lapu and his men in history. "They used WEAPON to fight foreign invaders in the island of Mactan while in the present pandemic situation, we are obliged to put our MASKS on to fight the threat of Covid 19". She is confident that Pilar can conquer the battle against the menace if they can replicate the unity exemplified by Lapu-Lapu and his men to protect the land against colonization, and so does the people of Pilar, if united in fighting as one can be victorious in the end.
On the other hand, Vice Mayor Luis C. Leosala, Jr. underscores the heroism of Lapu –Lapu to the plight of the Filipinos to protect the land which is rightfully ours. He urged each one to make it an inspiration to nurture patriotism as public servants. (Pilar PIO)
