PILAR, SORSOGON: Sailing afar for 160 years

 

 

The Municipal Government of Pilar is a duly organized and existing government organization by virtue of the Decree from the Superior Government of Manila dated AUGUST 6, 1821. It's 160th Founding Anniversary will happen this year. In cognizance of LGU-Pilar's operational efficiency, self-reliance, and viable programs and projects and services to the communities and its people, Proclamation No. 1194 Declaring Friday, 06 August 2021, A Special(Non-Working) Day in the Municipality of Pilar, Province of Sorsogon from the Office of the President of the Philippines, arrived just in time for Pilar's commemmoration of this milestone.

 

Furthermore, there is a need to value how Pilar sailed that far for a longer time, its resounding growth and developmental accomplishment can be attributed to the able leadership, sound legislations and healthy collaboration with people, the stakeholders and partners. It is also an opportune time for the people of Pilar to reflect on where we were, where we are now and where we are going as one community amid the threats of the pandemic.

 

From being the bulwark of insurgency, Pilar metamorphosed into a peaceful municipality with vibrant economic activities being an ideal gateway to Masbate and the Visayas.

 

The relentless efforts of the leaders who were given the mandate to serve and the commitment and dedication exemplified in bringing Pilar in its rightful place among municipalities in the country should be clearly communicated to the new generation to serve as a beacon of inspiration and motivation to do their share in developmental initiatives.

 

We maybe restricted to hold activities to chronicle different milestones written and will be written in its history, our commemmoration is a call for Pilarenios to stand united in taking PRIDE of Pilar as our HOME and our REFUGE. ( by Pilar PIO)
