LGU-PILAR BAGS 2021 FOI CHAMPIONS AWARDS

 

LGU-Pilar, Sorsogon is one of the 5 LGU’s out of 1489 municipalities, 145 cities, 33 of these are highly urbanized cities (HUC) and 81 provinces of the Philippines to receive this year’s FOI Champions Awards for Local Government Units given by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) through the FOI-Project Management Office (FOI-PMO). The awarding ceremony was held at Raddison Blu Hotel, Cebu City on November 25, 2021. Vice Mayor Luis C. Leosala Jr., Councilor Eugene Mananes and Joseph Dennis D. Cas as FOI Receiving Officer were the ones who represented the municipality on this occasion.

 

Annually, the FOI-PMO set and release guidelines and criteria for the FOI Awards to recognize the efforts of agencies that contribute to the development and progress of the FOI Program.

 

The FOI Program of the municipality is keen in providing the public specifically Pilarinos access to government information and continuously expand its efforts in fostering a truly engaged and well informed citizenry by promoting access to information. The FOI program stands as a beacon of hope of the Pilarinos as it gradually emerges with better system fueled by better ideals of transparency, accountability and open governance.

 

As a matter of fact, it is one of the first ISO 9001:2015 Certified Process amongst LGUs.

 

This accomplishment could not be achieved without the significant contributions and kind cooperation of the Pilarinos, since one of the many messages this COVID 19 pandemic has conveyed is that information plays a vital or crucial role in effective governance, and as much as possible without demand, should be provided with timely and relevant information. Conversely, misinformation can dangerously lead to helplessness, anxiety and might even cost the life of the people.

 

Rest assured that personal information and sensitive personal information of the requesting public will be protected and safeguarded in compliance with RA 10173 and Memorandum Circular 21-03 and 21-04 of the PCOO.
