322 PWDs of Pilar benefit from DSWD’s Cash-for-Work program
PILAR, SORSOGON- The Department of Social Welfare and Development FOV (DSWD) has distributed cash assistance to the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) of Pilar, Sorsogon on January 27,2023 under its cash-for-work (CFW) program.
The payout was facilitated by LGU-Pilar Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (OMSWD) headed by Ms. Anilyn Bon held at the LGU Gymnasium, Calongay, Pilar, Sorsogon.
DWSD have distributed a total of Php 1,110,900.00 million to the municipality which benefited three hundred twenty-two (322) beneficiaries from the 47 out of 49 barangays of Pilar.
CFW program is under the “BUHAYnihan or Buhay at Bayanihan para sa Mamamayan Cash-for-Work for Persons with Disabilities,” a project of the DSWD Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) that aims to provide financial assistance to the vulnerable sectors in exchange of community service.
The beneficiaries were given the opportunity to work for 10 days from November 23 to December 2,2022 and rendered community works and services including clean and green, gardening and tree planting. Besides, each beneficiary received wages amounting to Php 3, 450.00 in total.
Some of the recipients extended their heartfelt gratitude to the DSWD for giving the PWD sector an opportunity work and become part of the program.
“As a PWD malaking bagay na nakasama kami dito sa cash-for-work program. Makakatulong samin ito para sa pandagdag na pangangailangan sa araw-araw, pambili ng gamot, at gamit sa pangingisda para makapaghanapbuhay,” a statement from one of the beneficiaries. [As a PWD, it is a big thing that we became part of the cash-for work program. This will help us to supplement our everyday needs, to buy medicines, and fishing equipment to make a living.]
Furthermore, the KALAHI-CIDSS cash-for-work is one of the newest modalities in implementing the community-driven development approach which aims to empower communities to be more participative, transparent, and accountable in implementing government programs.
