PRAISE Committee recognizes Lumberio as Chess Champ

PILAR, SORSOGON. Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) Committee recognizes Pilar’s pride in board game, Gerald Lumberio, for being the champion in the recently-concluded National Master Gerald Ferriol at Jessie Villasin Open Rapid Chess Tournament dubbed as GMG Chess Cup on April 6, 2024 held at Tigaon Sports Complex, Tigaon, Camarines Sur.

The members of the PRAISE Committee and the Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Luis C. Leosala Jr. together with Municipal Administrator Arthur John Garchitorena award the Certificate of Recognition to Lumberio on Monday, April 29, 2024, during the regular flag raising ceremony of the LGU family at Pilar Sorsogon Local and National Government Complex, Calongay, Pilar, Sorsogon.

Lumberio, a professional wood pusher had a splendid campaign after scoring 7.5 points in the Swiss system competition at the GMG Chess Cup. He took home the P7,000 money prize and a trophy after winning the 15-minute rapid chess tournament.

Meanwhile, after the GMG competition, Lumberio once again delighted his colleagues in the government, Pilareño-Chess Club members, as well as fellow Pilareños for achieving humble victory and bringing home the bacon for the municipality of Pilar.
