MDRRMO Pilar administers activities in 36th NDRM celebration
PILAR, SORSOGON- Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDDRMO) headed by Mr. Arnol P. Lista administered series of activities in Pilar, Sorsogon in celebration of the 36th National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM).
Dubbed as “Bantayog ng Katatagan at ang Pagbubuklod sa Layuning Kahandaan”, NDRM was observed by virtue of Executive Order 29 s. 2017, it highlights the shift from disaster awareness building to disaster resilience emphasizing the importance of collaboration in addressing the challenges of Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (CCAM) and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and mandates activities related to building disaster resilience covering four thematic areas: prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response, and rehabilitation and recovery.
MDRRMO led the monthlong NDRM celebration in Pilar and conducted series of Basic Life Support (BLS) orientation in barangay Banuyo and Salvacion participated by the appointed and elected barangay officials, SK officials, as well as the members of the youth sector.
The MDRRMO staffs and BLS trainer oriented the participants on the emergency care principles following the CPR and return demonstration, performed to put the participants' knowledge into practice.
Orientation on Quality Assurance System-Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan, providing technical assistance on disaster preparedness criteria of SGLGB, Participatory Hazard Mapping and Risk Assessment was also administered in various barangays.
By focusing on these areas, disaster preparedness and response initiatives can help Pilareños build resilience, reduce risks, and ensure a more effective recovery process.
During the monthlong celebration, various assets and equipment in emergency response and recovery was also displayed in the Operations Center, LGU Complex, Calongay, Pilar, Sorsogon.
Meanwhile, to establish a safer community, the LGU Pilar led by Hon. Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes, through the MDRRMO, has been consistently implementing interventions to strengthen disaster preparedness while also assuring infrastructure resilience and the availability of necessary disaster response resources in town.
