
OWWA's WELFARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM REACHES FIRE VICTIMS OF PILAR
PILAR, SORSOGON. Five qualified beneficiaries of Welfare Assistance Program of OWWA receive their Calamity Check from the Family Welfare Officer of OWWA RWOV, Cliff Levin E. Base today, May 7, 2025 at PESO Pilar.
The fire incident on March 13, 2025 in Purong Batiya in Banuyo, Pilar, Sorsogon that left 191 households in devastation prompted the PESO to do the profiling in order to identify any possibility of families of OFWs among the 196 families severely affected.
In close coordination with OWWA RWOV, PESO had forwarded 15 families for verification as to the members' active status during the incident. Out of these number, only 5 beneficiaries were found to be qualified to receive the Calamity Check of Php 3,000 each.
The release of the check was witnessed by PESO Manager, Ma. Annie L. Perete.
Welfare Assistance Program seeks to provide cash relief assistance to OWWA members and their families affected by natural calamities, human induced disasters, crises, and emergencies. Other circumstances are Bereavement, Disability, Medical and Displacement from work. Pilar PIO
