FARMERS ASSOCIATIONS OF PILAR STARRED DSWD's PROJECT LAWA AT BINHI


PILAR, SORSOGON. Five Farmers Associations from barangays Catamlangan, Cabiguan, Cagdongon, Comapo-Capo and Lipason were identified to be the beneficiaries of Project LAWA at BINHI of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). This is about Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished.
 
This year, the project targets 200 Association Members for the Cash For Training and Work (CFTW). It commences on May 7, 2025, 8:00 in the morning at Parau Hall, LGU Complex, Pilar, Sorsogon with a Training which focuses on the climate change adaptation and disaster risk resilience.

It emphasizes different modules on understanding climate change adaptation and mitigation, and disaster risk reduction. It also focuses on the construction of Small Farm Reservoir and Gardening. These modules were comprehensively discussed by OIC MDRRMO Jocelle D. Bazar, MSWDO Anilin L. Bon and AgEng Danilo M. Ocmer, Jr from the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist.

In attendance were 188 association members who actively participated in the activity. These number are expected to work for 20 days and will be paid accordingly. They are also committed to work on the expected outputs of the project under the supervision of the Offices of the MSWD  and Municipal Agriculturist.

Project LAWA at BINHI as reiterated by Philippine News Agency is a sustainable solution to combat hunger and decrease economic vulnerability of the communities by addressing water scarcity and food insecurity exacerbated by climate change and disasters. (Pilar PIO)
