Pilar, First Municipality in Sorsogon to Receive Fiberglass Boats from the Provincial Government

The Provincial Government of Sorsogon in partnership with the Office of the Provincial Agriculture (OPAG) spearheads the Turn-Over Ceremony of the sixteen (16) fiberglass boats to the beneficiaries of the Municipality of Pilar today, June 23, 2021, 9:00 o’clock in the morning at Pilar Tourism Center, Pilar, Sorsogon.
The “Bangka ko, Gawa ko” is one of the projects of the Provincial Government under the leadership of Gov. Francis Joseph “Chiz” G. Escudero given to the fisherfolks in the Province of Sorsogon. Pilar, being a coastal town is one of the beneficiaries and the first to receive the fiberglass boats in the province. Beneficiaries were registered fisherfolks, availed the last program of DAR and Non-4Ps. Selected beneficiaries were from the barangays of Bantayan, Dao, Inapugan and San Rafael which undergone screening conducted by the LGU Pilar.
Ms. Bernadette “Dette” Escudero, the representative of Gov. Chiz and Nanay Evelina Escudero, House Deputy Speaker and Sorsogon First District Representative grace the occasion and delivered her turn-over message. According to her, these fiberglass boats are large and durable and was based on the normal size of boats in Pilar. Likewise, she urged the recipients to be responsible in maintaining and sustaining the life of their new boats.
In her message, Hon. Mayor Carolyn “Sweet” C. Sy-Reyes extends her gratitude to the Provincial Government for choosing Pilar as one of the beneficiaries of the said project. Mayor Sweet emphasizes the importance of the program to the fisherfolks of Pilar on how it will help them in their daily living in this most trying time.
Likewise, Hon. Vice Mayor Luis Leosala thank the people behind this project. VM Leosala underscores “Parau” being the identity of Pilar which literally means a “boat/bangka” that showcases the rich aquaculture of the town, reasons why the Municipal Agriculture focuses more on helping the fisherfolks.
Among the highlights were the giving of Certificates to the 16 beneficiaries awarded by Hon. Mayor Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes together with Ms. Dette Escudero, VM Luis Leosala, Sanggunian Bayan Members, Municipal Agriculturist Victor Yee and Mr. Roberto D. Fortes the Acting Provincial Agriculturist.
On the other hand, the recipients express their gratitude to Provincial Government of Sorsogon and LGU Pilar for the support and assistance given to them through this project. Confidently aiming that these boats will help their livelihood especially in supporting their family’s needs amidst threats and uncertainties during this time of pandemic.
