With its objective to make Sorsogon "The Pili Capital of the World", Governor Francis Joseph G. Escudero sent Sorsogon State University (SSU) Researchers to the municipality of Pilar to discuss the Sorsogon Pili Roadmap and the importance of Pili Production to the pili farmers on July 23,2021 at Bonifacio Covered Court Pilar,Sorsogon.

The Pili Roadmap was conceptualized collaboratively by the Provincial Government of Sorsogon, Sorsogon State University, Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Provincial Tourism Office and its stakeholders.

Being the major producer and one of the major importers of Pili, Sorsogon has developed a province-wide investment planning and conducted researches to reactivate pili activity with the help of the pili farmers.

Pili trees are mostly found in the Southern part of Luzon, particularly in Bicol Region and plays important role as they thrive in marginal soil conditions and are often resistant to typhoon and pests.

Reactivation and mobilization of pili stakeholder in the municipality is one of the upcoming activity of the provincial government thru the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg). Likewise, a face-to-face Training on Pili Resin and Tapping will also be conducted on November this year.

On the other hand, the Provincial Government of Sorsogon encouraged all pili farmers and growers to participate in the seminar-workshops to improve the production of Pili in the province.
Endless opportunities to grab, fearless initiatives to make...all for the growth of Sorsoganons.( Pilar PIO)
