Pilar bags the Green Banner Award on Nutrition in the Regional Level
 
The Local Government Unit of Pilar thru Municipal Nutrition Committee bagged its first ever Green Banner Award for the exemplary performance in the Regional Level category on nutrition program implementation during the Regional Nutrition Evaluation held last August 5, 2021.
 
The Green Banner Award is one of the highest recognitions given to Local Government Units with excellent implementation and management towards nutritional programs.
 
As qualifications for this award, cities and municipalities must be in outstanding performance for 3 consecutive years. Also, as for the indicator it must surpass the 85% rating. The criteria are 60% for service structure of the agency and 40% changes in nutritional status for the past 3 years for a total of 100%.
 
The assessment was based on the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) conducted by Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Team (RNET). The MELLPI Pro measures the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) for 2017 – 2022. Further, the system was expanded to include the measurement of the quantity and quality of the performance of the nutrition workers.
 
Pilar shown exemplary commitment in improving the nutritional status of their respective areas. This award underscores the efforts and the actions dedicated in the service for the improvement of the nutritional policies and services. As a result, Pilar got the overall rating of 91.65% in 2019. Ms. Maricel M. Mapusao, Nutrition Officer III and Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, stated that they didn’t expect this award. Their goal is to comply and do their job diligently.
 
The Municipal Nutrition Committee is grateful for this award that recognizes the effort to eradicate malnutrition in the Municipality of Pilar. On the other hand, through the collaborative efforts of the LGU and MNC in fighting malnutrition problem, Pilar ranked 2nd in 2021among LGUs with the lowest incidence in malnutrition in the whole Province of Sorsogon.
 
In a casual interview with Ms. Mapusao, the awarding ceremony is tentatively scheduled in November which is something to feel excited about.( Pilar PIO)
