16 slots from the Immersion Outreach Program of DSWD benefit the OSY
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region V grants the LGU Pilar its Immersion Outreach Program (IOP) that gave opportunity to out-of-school youth to be productive being gainfully employed for a short period of time.
IOP is one of the component programs of the Kabataan 2000 which aims to instill a sense of volunteerism and community service to the less privileged youth of the society.
In Pilar, sixteen (16) qualified beneficiaries had started their first day of work last October 18,2021. This program is an opportunity that will provide the beneficiaries basic life skills learning in the workplace and at the same time earn money to augment for their daily sustenance and future school needs.
Recipients are selected based on the basic criteria of the MSWD, which are: they must be 19-25 years old, at least less than a year enrolled, in good health and with a monthly family income of not more than the existing poverty threshold. Importantly, they must comply all the requirements given.
Ms. Annilyn M. Bon, MSWDO said that the beneficiaries will perform office works and will be engaged to the following tasks such as assisting clients, filling and sorting of files, delivering food packs, etc. Beneficiaries are assigned at the MSWD, VAWC, NCDC, and PCLC in support of the implementation of DSWD programs and services.
The youth hired under the Immersion Outreach Program will work in the LGU for 30 working days and will receive a stipend amounting to 75% of the regional minimum salary funded by the DSWD.
