Men and Women of Bureau of Fire Protection from the National, Regional, Provincial and Municipal levels converge today, November 23, 2021 to witness the Inauguration and Blessing of the newly-constructed BFP Fire Sub-Station in barangay Mercedes, Pilar, Sorsogon. They are joined by the lot donor, Mr. Carlos Conda, Sr. ,Board Member Juan Guysayco, Representative , 2nd District of Sorsogon and other stakeholders. The LGU-Pilar Officials headed by Hon. Carolyn C. Sy- Reyes takes the lead in this auspicious activity that will contribute significantly to the milestone of the municipality of Pilar in terms of achievements and services.

Rev. Fr. Rogelio Barcelona of the Society of the Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT) officiated the Prayer and Blessing of the newly-constructed Fire Sub Station.

National Chief BFP, Fire Director, Louie Puracan attended the activity as Guest of Honor, acknowledging the realization of the Fire Station as a model of Public Private Partnership (PPP) that paved a way to a collaborative undertaking that would redound to the best and efficient protective services to the people. The provision of Fire Truck and Ambulance Car is underway to arrive anytime soon, an assurance from the National Fire Chief in his message.

The edifice was a realization of a long-time dream of Pilar to provide a much accessible fire station to guarantee prompt and excellent services to the 2nd district of Pilar. It will take about 10 kilometers distance from the neighboring town of Castilla, 17 kilometers to travel from the municipality of Daraga and another 17 kilometers from Pilar where Fire Stations are located. The location is strategically situated along Maharlika Highway and the firefighters could be first responders when road accidents occur.

The initial step to realizing the dream takes place when a private individual, Mr. Carlos Conda, Sr. donated a 500 sq/km lot to the Local Government Unit of Pilar to be utilized for the construction of the Fire Sub-Station.
Such initiative of the Conda Family drives the dynamic and risk-taker Mayor of Pilar, Hon. Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes to explore possibilities to look for funds to fully utilize the donated lot for such purpose. Governor Francis Joseph D. Escudero came to the rescue and pledged the funding requirements of the Program of Work of the said Project.

After the preparation of the nitty gritty of the project and the processes that it has to undergo, the dream has finally come to reality.

A collaboration has been rooted from the love for service that is in the hearts of the provincial and municipal officials, from the love to share something for the community coming from a private individual and the love to do what’s best to protect lives and properties from the BFP firefighters, therefore, the Fire Sub-Station can be considered a COL-LOVE that will continually flourish to the community of people it serves.
