PILAR, SORSOGON—Municipal Officials positioned Philippine Flag Poles in front of LGU Complex on Monday, February 20, 2022, to celebrate the 36th anniversary of the People Power Revolution on February 25, 2022.

 

Memorandum Circular No. 2022-012 issued by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) encourages the government offices and establishments to display the Philippine Flag and to conduct commemorative activities relative to the theme.

 

Public Information Officer (PIO) Ma. Annie Perete hosted the short activity as LGU-Pilar’s observance of the People Power Revolution Anniversary during the regular flag-raising ceremony of its officials’ employees.

 

‘’This time, we would like to share a part of ourselves to take part in the commemoration of the 36th anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution on February 25, 2022,’’ Perete stated.

 

‘’Since it was declared holiday, the LGU of Pilar municipal officials and employees will do the commemorative activity this Monday,’’ she added.

 

Mayor Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes, Vice-Mayor Luis C. Leosala Jr., Sangguniang Bayan Members, Pilar MPS Chief and Department Heads simultaneously placed an array of Philippine Flag in front of the Municipal Hall Building.

 

Friday, the 25th of February, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) will be spearheading the 36th anniversary with this year’s theme, EDSA 2022: Pagtutulungan tungo sa Sama-Samang Pagbangon mula sa Pandemya, 8AM at EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City, whereas, all other Filipinos will do fitting activity in their respective areas as their share of commemoration.

 

As experienced, COVID-19 pandemic was one of the threats that continue to haunt our freedom to breath without constraint, hence, through unity, the country will always defeat the enemy.

 

As the famous German Philosopher on 19th century Karl Marx asserted, ’History repeats itself.’’

 

The celebration of our independence through the struggles, courage, and persistence of all the Filipinos who fought for the present generations’ enjoyment of democracy should always be learned and remembered.

 

With solidarity, their historical mark should always be engraved in the hearts of every Filipino.
