25 Transport workers receive Livelihood Kits from DOLE V
 
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) V in partnership with the LGU Pilar distributed livelihood starter kits to Twenty-five (25) beneficiaries of DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program Pilar Byaheng Kabuhayan (PBKAB) Project on February 22,2022 held at LGU Complex Calongay,Pilar,Sorsogon.
 
PBKAB Project is the very first LGU- initiated livelihood project of Pilar thru the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) headed by Ms. Annie L. Perete. It targets the local transport sector of the municipality adversely affected by the covid 19 crisis.
 
Business packages of their choice were given to each which they believed could augment income for the family if transport is affected by any crisis of some sort. They will venture on car washing, food vending, farming, fish and fruit vending, painting, and small engine mechanic nature of livelihood with the help of their family members. It is perceived to be a family enterprise to not depend solely on public utility occupation.
 
DOLE V allocated an amount of Php 573,317.96 for the kits and equipment. Php 125,000.00 is the equity of LGU Pilar as accredited co-partner to finance the 3- month SSS contribution of the beneficiaries, training and monitoring expenses, supplies and materials and other incidental expenses to be incurred in the implementation of the project.
This is another product of a strong collaboration of DOLE and LGU Pilar which is aimed at alleviating the condition of the needy PilareƱos.
 
Ms. Marilyn L. Luzuriaga, DOLE Provincial Field Officer personally attended the awarding of kits and equipment to ensure that it conform to the specifications set for every item. In her message, she urged the beneficiaries to pursue their desired alternative business with the help of the starter kits to augment income for their families.
 
 
 
Hon. Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes further extended her heartfelt gratitude to DOLE as she imparted, "Mapasalamat po ako Ma'am Malyn dahil dakulaon pong katabangan ini sa lokal na gobyerno kan Pilar na matabangan ining 25 beneficiaries ta ngunyan". [I would like to thank Ma'am Malyn for supporting the 25 beneficiaries of LGU Pilar] Besides, Mayor Sweet was delighted seeing the smiles reflected in the eyes of every grantee.
 
Productivity training on Values Formation, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), Simple Bookkeeping and Financial Management, and Orientation on DOLE Integrated Livelihood Project and Guidelines and 7s of Good Housekeeping carried out by the invited resource persons was also conducted to ensure sustainable livelihood and readiness of every beneficiary in reporting and simple bookkeeping.
 
Furthermore, Hon. Vice Mayor Luis C. Leosala Jr. acknowledged the significant role of the transport workers. "Sa hanay ng mga professional drivers, konduktor, barkers at operators na bahagi ng sektor ng pamayanan, napakalaking ambag at halaga ng inyong sektor sa lipunan", he stated. [In line with the professional drivers, conductor, barkers and operators that are part of the sector, your contribution gives a huge value to the community]
 
Hon. Emmanuel H. Sia, Chair.,SB Committee on Manpower, Labor and Cooperatives on the other hand graced the activity and recognized one's effort to improve work conditions and opportunities amid pandemic.
