DICT Region V- Sorsogon conducts IMIL and Cybersecurity Roadshow at Pilar, Sorsogon
PILAR, SORSOGON - To raise awareness and build a safer cyberspace, the Department of Information and Communications Technology Region V Sorsogon conduct Internet Media and Information Literacy (IMIL) training and Cybersecurity Roadshow on May 17, 2023 at Pilar, Sorsogon.
The roadshow is an initiative of the Provincial Government of Sorsogon through the Sorsogon Provincial Library and Information Center (Tech4ED) in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Pilar Office of the Vice Mayor headed by Hon. Luis C. Leosala Jr.
The capacity training was held at the Sangguniang Bayan Session Hall, Legislative Building, Pilar, Sorsogon Local and National Government Complex attended by the LGU-Pilar employees from different offices. Members of the Sangguniang Bayan were also present and expressed their all-out support to the activity.
Internet Media and Information Literacy (IMIL) was discussed by the DICT Interns, Ms. Katrina L. Gardon and Mr. John Mike Dumalaon. Engr. John Nomel B. Ebuenga tackled the cybersecurity awareness while Ms. Lydeline Mae G. Itac talk over the data privacy awareness.
Hon. Carolyn C. Sy- Reyes gratefully expressed her appreciation to DICT for raising community awareness through the roadshow conducted. She advised the attendees to share what they had learnt from the speakers so that everyone would be aware and safe from any criminal activity.
On the other hand, the said activity aims to educate participants on the fundamentals of computers and the internet, the dangers and hazards associated with their usage, and the users and data subjects’ rights to privacy under RA 10173 or also known as the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
Moreover, DICT also provided SIM Registration assistance to the Pilareῆos along with the successfully concluded IMIL and Cybersecurity Roadshow in the municipality of Pilar. (Pilar PIO)
