LGU Pilar unveils official Parau Festival Logo

PILAR, SORSOGON. In connection with the upcoming Parau Festival 2024 celebration, the Local Government Unit of Pilar launched its Parau Festival official logo on Monday, September 14.

Mr. Joel F. Navora, Tourism Officer-Designate presented the overview of the logo design layout in which several tourism icons were included such as waves and flowing water, sailboat “parau”, egret, under water scenery, parau festival dancer, panumbagan sandbar, sea grapes, sea urchin, and the kubkob watch tower.

According to Navora, the logo represents the values and personality of the Pilareños. Thus, Pilareños value natural resources and cherish the town's cultural heritage and history.

He added that the logo will likely serve as a key element in communicating the town's unique attributes, connecting with potential visitors, and encouraging tourism which can boost local businesses and services.

Moreover, Vice Mayor Luis C. Leosala Jr. made the Parau Festival logo official after reading the approved SB Resolution No. 0044-C, series of 2024, a “Resolution Adopting the Pilar Parau Festival Logo and 2024 Rentable Space”.

Mayor Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes conveyed her message to the Pilareños through OIC Municipal Administrator Arnol P. Lista, urging every Pilareño and all LGU employees to support and be proud of the new logo being a symbol of pride and a strategic tool for promoting tourism in Pilar.

Admin Lista emphasized that parau festival was first celebrated in the municipality of Pilar in year 2002 and for two decades, the LGU used the old parau logo, hence, the need to change to attune to the demands of time.

Lista uttered that the new logo reflects the town's progress. He emphasized that it’s an opportunity to revitalize the town's branding, attract new visitors, and inspire local pride.

The new parau logo is the result of the joint initiatives of the management, the Pilar Tourism Planning Committee, Tourism Core Group (TOCOG), Sangguniang Bayan Officials and Hon. Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes.

The highlight of the activity was the unveiling of the 2024 Parau Festival official logo by the municipal officials of Pilar, Tourism Planning Committee, Tourism Core Group and Admin Lista. Several LGU employees were also gathered for the photo opportunity right after the unveiling ceremony. (Pilar PIO)
