LGU Pilar Holds Successful Drug Prevention Awareness Campaign in Barangays Abucay and Bayawas

PILAR, SORSOGON- The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pilar headed by Municipal Mayor Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes, through its Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office has successfully conducted a community-wide awareness campaign on drug prevention targeting the residents of Barangays Abucay and Bayawas. The initiative reflects the LGU’s commitment to creating a safer and more informed community through proactive efforts against illegal drug use.

The campaign was held last November 9 and attended by a broad representation of the community, including residents from the two barangays, Barangay Officials, Barangay Health Workers, and Child Development Workers. Key support was also provided by the Philippine Army and Philippine National Police, who offered insights about the impact of drug use and the importance of community vigilance.
The awareness program aims to equip participants with essential knowledge on the dangers of drug abuse, how to recognize signs of drug-related issues within the community, and practical steps to prevent the spread of substance use. Through interactive discussions and information dissemination, the campaign emphasized the role of each resident in fostering a drug-free environment.
Barangay officials expressed gratitude for the continued support from both the LGU, reaffirming their commitment to sustaining anti-drug initiatives in their respective areas.
