
LGU Pilar Hosts Women’s Congress 2025: Advocacy Forum and Zumba Contest
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pilar, led by Mayor Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes, successfully held the Women’s Congress 2025: Advocacy Forum and Zumba Contest. The event began with a Thanksgiving Mass, followed by a Zumba competition featuring the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) and the Pilar-Sorsogon Women’s Federation.
Over 600 women from various organizations, including KALIPI, the Pilar-Sorsogon Women’s Federation, Indigenous Peoples groups, and persons with disabilities, participated the said event. A forum was also conducted covering key topics such as Women Empowerment, presented by Cristina C. Jamoralin, Supervising GAD Specialist; the Electoral Process, led by Ms. Myra Baliatan; and discussions on mental health, fire safety, and SOGIESC (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics).
Mayor Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes, Gender and Development Focal Person Jocelyn A. Llona, RSW, and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Anilyn Bon, RSW, delivered remarks emphasizing gender equality and the ongoing commitment to women’s advancement in Pilar.
