BFP holds 2-day Fire Square Road Show at Pilar, Sorsogon

PILAR, SORSOGON- The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Regional Headquarters 5 Pilar Fire Station in coordination with the LGU-Pilar and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (MDRRM) holds 2-day Fire Square Road Show starting today, April 27 to run until April 28,2023 at LGU Complex, Calongay, Pilar, Sorsogon.

The activity was graced by the honored presence of CSUPT Ricardo C Perdigon, CSC, Regional Director, BFP R5, SSUPT Achilles M Santiago, Phd, DSC, Special Rescue Force Chief, INSP Froilan J Evasco, Acting Municipal Fire Marshal- Pilar Fire Station, Mayor Carolyn C. Sy-Reyes, SB members headed by VM Luis C. Leosala Jr., Mr. Arnol P. Lista, LDRRMO, and PB Mario Almen.
 
The Fire Square Road Show is the frontline program of BFP which primarily aims to raise awareness on fire prevention and response. This was also designed to train children on disaster preparedness.
 
The overview of the 2-day activity was given by SFO1 Daryl N Guianan, SRF Team Leader where he stated that there are 12 stations (informative and interactive booths), 8 of which were installed at the MDRRM operations center, and 4 were at the LGU Gymnasium.
 
Part of the ongoing activity is the conduct of basic first aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), bandaging and splinting.

Participants were also taught about the fire safety tips, firefighting techniques, the use of fire extinguisher, electrical fire safety (the do’s and don’ts), warning signages, ropemanship, knot tying, rappelling, and simulations of collapsed structure. Static display of rescue equipment was also featured.

Meanwhile, Hon. Carolyn “Sweet” C. Sy-Reyes underscores the importance of being prepared for any calamity that could strike any time. Mayor Sweet encouraged the children to enjoy the activities and at the same time learn from this so that they can also teach what they have learned to their classmates.
 
The first day activity was participated by the students of Pilar I Central School, Poctol ES, Binanuahan ES, Danlog ES, Marifosque ES, Abas ES, Banuyo ES, Calongay ES, San Jose ES, Mabanate ES, Bayasong ES, Cagdongon ES, Dr. Proyecto M. Lumbao Memorial Institute Inc. and Dominican School of Pilar.
 
On the other hand, personnel of MDRRM and RHU assists in the ongoing Fire Square Road Show activities. (Pilar PIO)
