13 Young Workers completes 5-month internship under DOLE-GIP


PILAR, SORSOGON-  Thirteen (13) interns of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Government Internship Program officially completes five-month deployment in the LGU-Pilar.

Government Internship Program is one of DOLE’s employment programs that aims to provide opportunities to young workers to actively participate in government agencies/entities’ like LGUs to expose themselves in the field of public service which will run for 3-6 months.
 
This group of GIP interns worked in several LGU offices from July 16, 2023 to December 31, 2023. Part of their job is to assists LGU personnel/staff, perform duties assigned by their supervisors, and do jobs that are not highly technical in nature.
 
Through working in the government, interns were able learn, showcase their skills and able to expand their perspectives in the field of public service.
Three (3) out of the 13 beneficiaries was funded by AKO BIKOL Party list through the initiative of Hon. Celso Y. Lao Jr.
Ms. Ma. Annie L. Perete, PESO Manager/PIO awarded the Certificate of Employment to the beneficiaries on January 10, 2024 at Public Employment Service Office (PESO) including their reference numbers in order to claim their stipend for the last cut-off of December thru DOLE’s partner money remittance center.
 
Furthermore, GIP interns expressed their gratitude to DOLE and to the Local Government Unit of Pilar for the employment opportunity that will help them as they begin their journey towards public service.
 
As of this writing, 4 out of these 13 were absorbed by LGU-Pilar as Job Order workers. (Pilar PIO)
