1,903 Pilar farmers received P5-K cash aid from DA-RCEF-RFFA
PILAR, SORSOGON- A total of One thousand nine hundred three (1, 903) farmers of the municipality of Pilar received cash assistance from the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office V (DA RFO V) through its Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA).
On January 16, 2024, farmer-beneficiaries received Php 5, 000.00 each downloaded through their ATM card/ Interventions Monitoring Card (IMC) issued by DA RFO V. Beneficiaries claimed their payments through the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) and Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).
Beneficiaries who do not have ATM cards/IMC yet or whose cards have been lost were assisted by the OMAg personnel on January 18, 2024 in obtaining their E-Wallet number in order to claim their pay.
According to a report provided by Municipal Agriculturist Engr. Danilo Ocmer, a total of Php 9,515,000.00 was downloaded to the municipality of Pilar that benefited smallholder rice farmers whose farm sizes range from 0.5 but not exceeding 2 hectares. These eligible beneficiaries are registered rice farmers under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA).
The RSBSA is an electronic compilation of basic information on farmers and farm laborers engaged in animal and crop production, giving them access to agriculture-related programs, services, and other interventions from the government.
Additionally, Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA) aims to provide compensation for the projected income loss of rice farmers due to the drop in palay prices and enhances farmers’ opportunity to improve productivity and profitability.
Moreover, the LGU-Pilar through the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist facilitated the conduct of master listing of farmers and assisted in the program implementation particularly in conducting information campaigns. (Pilar PIO)
