DOLE SPO awards livelihood intervention to Esperanza Solo Parents Rural Workers Association


PILAR, SORSOGON- The Department of Labor and Employment Sorsogon Provincial Office (DOLE SPO) on Monday, January 29, 2024 awarded the DOLE assisted livelihood project to Esperanza Solo Parents Rural Workers Association (ESPaRWA) of Pilar, Sorsogon.

The awarding was held at the LGU Gymnasium, LGU Complex, Calongay, Pilar, Sorsogon attended by the beneficiaries, personnel from DOLE SPO and PESO.
 
This intervention was initiated by the LGU-Pilar Public Employment Service Office (PESO) headed by Ms. Ma. Annie L. Perete, PESO Manager/ PIO under its Project SAIL or the Sectoral Access to an Improved Livelihood worth Php 500,000.00.
 
Esperanza Solo Parents Rural Workers Association is a DOLE registered association and the first recipient of Project SAIL as PESO ventured to a group undertaking through DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) with the LGU-Pilar as an accredited co-partner.
 
ESPaRWA has twenty-six (26) members composed of registered solo parents in the municipality of Pilar. PESO in coordination with the Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (OMSWD) and Gender and Development Office has chosen the Solo Parents sector as the beneficiary of the said undertaking as they belong to the vulnerable sectors of the society who need sustainable livelihood opportunities to support and augment income for their children.
The association received a Beauty and Wellness Spa kits to help them start their business which will be located in barangay Esperanza, Pilar, Sorsogon.
 
Ms. Mary Jane L. Rolda, DOLE Provincial Head personally awarded the kits and equipment to the association together with Mayor Carolyn “Sweet” C. Sy-Reyes, DOLE Provincial Livelihood Focal Mark Francis Llaneta, Livelihood Specialists Ms. Mary Rose Domdom and Mr. Mark Duana, and PESO Manager Ms. Ma. Annie L. Perete.
 
Also present during the awarding are Hon. Emmanuel H. Sia, SB Member Chairman on Committee on Manpower, Labor and Cooperatives, Ms. Anilyn L. Bon, MSWDO, and Ms. Jocelyn Llona, GAD Focal Person.
Furthermore, a productivity training on Values Formation, Occupational Safety and Health, Simple Bookkeeping and Records Management, DILP Orientation and Guidelines, 7s of Good Housekeeping, and Simple Business Management was done to equip entrepreneurs with skills and substantial knowledge to successfully run and expand their business.
 
On the other hand, Mayor Sweet expressed gratitude to the Department of Labor and Employment for the livelihood interventions given to the municipality of Pilar. Mayor S0weet likewise congratulates the association as she expects that the training and interventions will help beneficiaries build their business, leading to a stronger economy and more opportunities for Pilareños.(Pilar PIO)
